LinkedIn Engagement Rate Calculator
Calculate your LinkedIn post or page engagement rate by followers or impressions — free, instant, and nothing leaves your browser
LinkedIn engagement rate is the percentage of your audience that reacted to, commented on, or reposted your content. The standard formula is (reactions + comments + reposts) ÷ followers × 100. Enter your numbers below to get your rate by followers, your rate by impressions (when available), and a verdict against published LinkedIn benchmarks.
How to Use This Calculator
Open your LinkedIn profile or company page and go to the Analytics tab. Note your follower count, then check the post analytics for the average reactions, comments, and reposts per post. If impressions are available, enter those too. Set how many posts the averages cover, then click Calculate Engagement Rate. Your inputs are saved locally in your browser so you can tweak one number and recalculate — nothing is uploaded anywhere.
How to Calculate LinkedIn Engagement Rate
There are two accepted ways to measure LinkedIn engagement, and this calculator gives you both:
- Engagement rate by followers = (reactions + comments + reposts) ÷ followers × 100. This is the standard metric for comparing profiles or company pages and the one most benchmark studies publish.
- Engagement rate by impressions = (reactions + comments + reposts) ÷ impressions × 100. Because LinkedIn shows posts to only a fraction of your followers, this measures how compelling a post was to the people who actually saw it. It appears only when you enter an impressions figure.
To measure a whole profile or page, enter the average reactions, comments, and reposts across your last 10–20 posts and set “Posts analyzed” to that number — the calculator then also shows your total engagements across all of those posts.
What Is a Good LinkedIn Engagement Rate?
LinkedIn engagement rates are generally higher than Facebook or Twitter/X because the platform's algorithm favors high-quality professional content and the feed is less crowded. According to Socialinsider’s LinkedIn benchmarks, the average LinkedIn page engagement rate by followers sits at roughly 0.35%, while personal profiles with active posting strategies often see considerably higher rates. Individual post performance varies widely by content type — native document carousels and polls tend to outperform simple text or link posts. This calculator’s verdict uses the approximate ranges below.
| Engagement rate by followers | Verdict |
|---|---|
| Under 0.1% | Low |
| 0.1% – 0.35% | Around average |
| 0.35% – 1% | Good — above the ~0.35% average |
| 1% – 3.5% | Very good |
| Over 3.5% | Excellent |
How to Improve Your LinkedIn Engagement Rate
Engagement rate is a ratio, so you can lift it from both sides: earn more interactions per post and make sure your audience is genuinely interested in your niche. Share original insights and professional takes rather than generic reshares, use native document carousels and polls (both formats see higher engagement on LinkedIn), post consistently during weekday business hours, and reply to every comment within the first hour to boost the algorithm’s distribution signal.
Before investing in growth services, know your baseline — a low engagement rate on a profile padded with inactive connections is a warning sign. Frequently Asked Questions
How do you calculate engagement rate on LinkedIn?
Add a post’s reactions, comments, and reposts, divide the total by your follower count (or the post’s impressions), then multiply by 100. For a whole profile or page, average the rate across your last 10–20 posts.
What’s a good engagement rate on LinkedIn?
Published benchmarks put the average LinkedIn page engagement rate by followers at roughly 0.35%. Personal profiles with consistent posting often see 1–3% or higher. A rate above 1% is strong; above 3.5% is excellent by any measure.
Should I use engagement rate by followers or by impressions?
Use by followers to compare profiles or pages and to report against industry benchmarks, since that is what most studies publish. Use by impressions to judge how compelling an individual post was to the people who actually saw it.
What counts as an engagement on LinkedIn?
The three primary engagement actions are reactions (Like, Celebrate, Support, Insightful, Curious, Love, Funny), comments, and reposts (shares). Some benchmarks also count clicks or video views, but this calculator focuses on the three visible public actions that any profile can measure.
Why is my LinkedIn engagement rate higher than my Instagram rate?
LinkedIn’s feed is less crowded than Instagram’s, and the algorithm rewards content that generates conversation. Professional audiences also tend to engage more selectively but more deeply, which pushes per-post engagement rates higher relative to follower count.
Does this calculator access my LinkedIn account?
No. It doesn’t ask for your profile URL, password, or API access. Everything is calculated in your browser from the numbers you type, and your data never leaves your device.
